What conditions must be met in order for Desert School to happen?

  • If either Grant or King county are not expected to be in Phase 3 or higher before July 20th, Desert School will not occur.

  • If Grant or King county are expected to be in Phase 3 before July 20th, trip alternatives will be explored such as reducing trip capacity, or splitting into multiple sessions.

  • If Grant or King county are expected to be in Phase 4 before July 20th, Desert School will proceed with sanitary measures taken

How will POST reduce risk on Desert School?

  • Campers and staff will be encouraged to wear masks and gloves.

  • Social Distancing will be practiced.

  • Kitchen

    • Kitchen team members must wear masks and gloves at all times.

    • The kitchen team will be limited to 4 people on each trip.

    • Surfaces will be sanitized before and after each meal.

  • Bathrooms

    • Bathrooms will be cleaned daily

    • Bathroom capacities will be limited

  • Cabins

    • Cabins will be cleaned daily

    • Cabin capacity will be limited

    • Time spent in cabins will be kept to a minimum

  • Stations

    • Kayak Station

      • Paddles will be cleaned and wiped down between uses.

    • Base Station

      • Campers will stay outside

      • Common surfaces will be routinely cleaned

    • Rock

      • Gear will be cleaned between uses

Will POST test campers before trips?

Although POST is exploring testing options for trips, the extent of our testing will likely be limited to temperature checks before boarding the busses.
